For Marathon Month, this week’s theme entails Yakima’s Unique Attractions . . . I hope that this will help breed ideas for showers, bachelor{ette} parties or just to give your out-of-town guests some unique things to experience in the Valley while they’re here for your big day.  If you’ve moved away from {home} Yakima and have made friends in other parts of the state that you intend to invite to your wedding, chances are {if you’re like me} you’ve run into plenty of people with skewed perceptions of what this beautiful valley really is and what it has to offer . . . here is your chance to set the record straight!

I wanted to kick off the week with Yakima’s biggest {and most notorious} attraction and that is, of course, the wine tours!  Known as Washington’s Premium Wine Region {something we should be real proud of!}, Wine Yakima Valley boasts a list of 49 (an always growing number) wineries throughout the valley and describes itself as “the key ingredient in more half of all wine produced throughout Washington State…”

One of the most unique wine tours can be found at Cherry Wood Bed, Breakfast & Barn  located in Zillah (just a few miles outside of Yakima for you out-of-towners).  At Cherry Wood, guests can choose to stay inside one of the B&B’s cozy little rooms with gorgeous views of the farmlands; for something a little more exclusive, guests can choose individually designed retro-style travel trailers; or last, for a more romantic and original experience, guests can stay in the beautifully designed and luxurious teepees on Cherry Woods grounds.  It’s not even the rooms that are the best part of this little B&B.  What’s most impressive about this wine tour is the fact that Trail Boss and Wine Wrangler, Pepper Fewel, takes guests on guided tours through vineyards on horseback!  Check out the website for more information regarding pricing, reservations and special events.

If you’re looking for a softer, more relaxing stay in the midst of all the vineyards, try White House B&B located in the heart of wine country.   This quaint little spot offers gourmet chocolates, “feather beds and French antique linens that reflect the era of the house and [owner, Sherry] Jefferson’s passion for fine living.”  Exuding a gentle clean feel, everything in the house is white; see the gorgeous pictures of these humble quarters below.  To locate nearby wineries, view prices and reservation information or just check out more gorgeous pictures of the White House interior see their page here.

Cherry Wood and the White House are just two spots among the many vineyards that Yakima Valley plays host to. Check out the Wine Yakima Valley website for more information on upcoming events, a complete list of wineries and locations as well as more information on the Yakima Valley Wine experience, “where great wine is born”!

Great review! I never would’ve known these places existed had it not been for your website. Great sleuthing! I’m anxious to read what else you’ve found.
