{Wedding} Boot Camp

Now that you’ve announced your engagement and the excitement as subsided {a little}, you realize you’re going to be the center of attention at parties, showers and of course, the big day.  Chances are that as you are choosing your colors, asking your bridesmaids and worrying about centerpieces, you’ll also be thinking about what you’ll look like as everyone stares at your backside down the aisle.  Don’t let this new found awareness make you go into a panic, rather, use it as an incentive to get in shape!

A 2006 American Wedding Survey from Brides.com says that “out of the 2.3 million American weddings every year, 80 percent of brides and over half the wedding party and family members will take steps to change their eating or exercise habits for the big day.” Working out and watching your diet during the engagement will not only give you a {glowing confidence}as you walk down the aisle, it will also help you feel better, more alert and will ultimately help you transition through the wedding planning phases with a little more ease.

Amidst all the designing, organizing, bartering, arguing, picking and choosing you may get a bit {flustered} and planning a workout regimen may fall to the bottom of your to-do list. So, with the help of Rob Meinecke, Fitness Director for Yakima Athletic Club and Ryan Dickinson of West Valley Fitness, I’d like to present you with a couple Wedding Boot Camp options for brides, grooms, participants, parents, etc.




Rob developed a {Boot Camp} workout series that ranges from core strengthening (using the latest equipment) to cardio training.  The class will boast a variety of exercises while you’re being pushed by a motivated and professional fitness expert.

The 6-week series is set to begin on {July 13th} with two sweat sessions a week. You can enroll in the Boot Camp at the Yakima Athletic Club or the YAC Fitness (Terrace Heights) location. Class times at Yakima Athletic Club will be held on Monday and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at YAC Fitness in Terrace Heights.  Members of either club pay $99 and non-members pay just $129!  Rob has also offered to set up one-on-one sessions for anyone who prefers private or additional instruction.

 West Valley Fitness Bootcamp


Ryan Dickson over at West Valley Fitness also designed a 6-week Wedding Boot Camp regimen, set to focus on core training with supplements to the {butt}, leg and thigh areas.  The sessions will range from 30-45 minutes, twice a week. 

One-on- one packaged sessions are also available.  It will include 12 – 30 minute lessons (split however you like) for the future Mr. and Mrs. at $38 each.  {FREEBIE ALERT} Sign-up for Ryan’s one-on-ones and receive a free massage from Kroner Chiropractic.

Ryan also recommends a minimum commitment of 6 weeks of toning and cardio (two Boot Camps and two one-on-ones are ideal) in order to see the desired results for your big day.

West Valley Fitness members can enroll in Ryan’s Boot Camp for $75 or $125 for non-members.  Times are variable upon clients’ schedules.
